The Swiss company Freitag, German for Friday and also the name of its founders, is known for its one-of-a-kind bags made from truck tarps. However, one product which was always missing in its line-up was a big and spacious travel bag. Freitag’s new Kickstarter campaign for the Zippelin is now supposed to fix that problem.
How can a bag be inflatable?
To make the bag lighter but also smaller when it’s not needed, for the Zippelin, Freitag got rid of a traditional frame all together. Instead, an inflatable tube, like the ones found in bicycle wheels, is being used to retain the bag’s form, when travelling.
Then, when you don’t need it anymore, you can let the air out of the tube, easily take of the wheel’s and fold up the bag for easy storage.
Moreover, Zippelin bags will be made from the same unique truck tarp materials as all the other bags in Freitag’s product portfolio, so it will definitely stand out at baggage collection.
If you want one, then sadly, you are out of luck, since Freitag has already closed its campaign and is accepting no further funding.
