Just recently a broken pipeline left many passengers stranded. Not as bad but definitely concerning is the fact that a system crash caused many check-in systems to not work last Thursday morning.

Check-in Delays? Cancellations?

Apparently, the outage did not last for that long and within an hour mostly everything was up and running again. Affected airports included Washington, Singapore, London Gatwick, Zurich and Frankfurt.

Hackers?

In this instance, no third party was involved. Amadeus Altéa, the company behind the go-to check in solution blamed “network issues”, as sources report.

Thankfully, the effects were not too severe and the Spanish IT company was able to solve everything relatively quick, but it definitely seems a little odd that a network issue can take out several check-in systems around the globe.
